THE NEW SHELTER IS UP AND RUNNING!!!!
We are thankful to have moved into our new location (4110 - 3rd Street East - west of the Town Shop). Please come by and visit us during public hours and meet the beautiful animals that we take care of until we find their forever families. We have had an influx of kittens over the last couple of months and they are now ready to go to adoptive families. We also have an assortment of older cats of all shapes, sizes and personalities. Please consider a rescued feline or canine.
2012 CALENDARS ARE AVAILABLE NOW
Our beautiful 2012 calendars are available at the Shelter, the Claresholm Local Press, Godley's Jewellry and from any CAReS member. Please support this important fundraising initiative. Calendars cost $15.00 to buy. Our cost to print them is $10 and the $5 is a donation to the shelter.
CAReS CATS AT PETSMART LETHBRIDGE LOCATION!!!
Our Society is pleased to continue our partnership with PetSmart Charities. CAReS has become an adoption partner with PetSmart beginning February 14th, 2011 and our cats can be seen at the PetSmart store in Lethbridge near the Superstore on Mayor Magrath Drive.
Since we began showcasing our cats at the PetSmart store we have adopted out over 70 of our furry felines to loving forever homes all over Alberta, BC and Montana. Stop by and say hello to the cats and/or CAReS volunteers when you are in the city or buy a couple of cat toys for the staff to toss into their PetSmart digs!!!
THANK YOUS
The Towns of Claresholm, Stavely and Granum for their continued financial support.
CAReS received $9,060.50 from the Government of Alberta's Community Spirit Program in 2011. This grant is based on the amount of individual cash donations received by CAReS in the prior year. This program's goal is to increase charitable giving by individuals who want to support Alberta's non-profit and charitable organizations. We have applied for the Community Spirit Program again in 2012.
A donation to CAReS will give the donor an enhanced Alberta tax credit percentage (50%) for 2011 on donations over $200 on your personal tax return. This enhanced tax credit makes CAReS an excellent choice for your charitable donations in 2012 and beyond.
PetSmart Lethbridge staff and management for assisting us in finding wonderful loving homes for our dogs, cats and kittens. THANKS to all who make this program such a success!!!
Thanks to the Stavely Elks who provided us with a grant of $500 towards our ongoing care of stray and abandoned animals.
CFEP GRANT UPDATE
CAReS had applied for funding under the Provincial Community Facility Enhancement Program for 50% of the funding ($77,500) needed to build the new shelter.
WE WERE SUCCESSFUL!!!
Thanks to everyone who showed their support with donations of time, money or sent letters of support to our MLA Evan Berger, Minister of Agriculture. Evan will be at the shelter at noon on December 9th to present the cheque to our Board and to have pictures taken. Please thank Evan when you see him as he helped spearhead this initiative as he knew how important it is for our community.
We would like to thank Emercor Ltd. for the walls of the new shelter building and we would like to thank the owners and staff of Emercor for their support. This donation is a huge help in moving the project forward and demonstrating community support for the project.
We would also like to thank Doug MacPherson and Complete Carpentry, Pete Krueckl, Danny Hartfelder, and all our other hardworking contractors.
We would be amiss if we didn't thank our volunteers: Jim & Diane, Bob, Ruth Ann, Karen, Wayne & Barb, Denise, Kim & Michael, Anne, Christel, Kris, Rita, Judy, Jean, Gerald, Sylvia & Allan, Pat and all others who help throughout the year. Without you we would be nothing but an idea with no force behind it.
